KLAUS MÄKELÄ RETURNS TO FRANKFURT RADIO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
This week Klaus Mäkelä returns to the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra conducting Shostakovich’s Symphony No.7 (Leningrad) at the Alte Oper Frankfurt on 30, 31 October and 1 November (live-streamed on hr-sinfonieorchester.de and ARTE Concert), and on 2 November at Stadthalle Aschaffenburg. The programme also includes Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor with Martin Helmchen.
Mäkelä then travels to Oslo to join the Oslo Philharmonic where he is Principal Conductor designate. He conducts Shostakovich’s Symphony No.5 on 6 and 7 November. The programme on 7 November includes Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini with Kirill Gernstein, La melancolie by Ole Bull/Johan Halvorsen and Arne Nordheim’s Epitaffio.
