KLAUS MÄKELÄ OPERA CONDUCTING DEBUT WITH FINNISH NATIONAL OPERA

Klaus Mäkelä makes his opera conducting debut with the Finnish National Opera for performances of The Magic Flute. Mäkelä conducts the opening night (17 November) and a subsequent five performances (21, 23, 28, 29, 30 November). 

The production is a recreation of the Komische Oper in Berlin, combining animation and live singers, and is performed in Finnish. 

Mäkelä’s relationship with the Finnish National Opera began in 2016/17 conducting a concertante performance of Erkki Melartin’s Aino and assisting for Carmen. He has also been announced as Esa-Pekka Salonen’s assistant for the Finnish National Opera’s Ring Cycle beginning in 2019.
